Whether you are building a brand new home or renovating after recent weather damage, it can be tough to know which type of material to choose for your roof. If you have recently experienced extensive damage that requires replacement of much of your roofing, this may be a perfect time to review your options and choose a product that meets your needs without breaking the bank.

1) Shingles are one of the most common forms of roofing material today. They are usually made out of asphalt or fiberglass and are designed to be durable and affordable. One of the best things about shingles is that you can get them in almost any color to match a wide range of outdoor d├ęcor.
2) Concrete is a rather rare roofing material, but is making a name for itself among modern homeowners and designers. This material is extremely durable and lasts a long time with relatively little maintenance. Concrete is great protection from weathering and rot.
3) Tile is often seen in the southwest parts of the country and is heavily influenced by certain Spanish-style designs. Similar to concrete, it is a good barrier to rot, weather damage, and even insect invasion.
4) Wood is an environmentally-friendly option that has a unique appearance, but also has a few unique properties. It must be treated to avoid fire damage and can be susceptible to rot and weather.

When considering the options for updating or replacing your roofing, it is best to learn a little about each and make the decision that is right for your budget. Taking into consideration the style of your home and type of weather you get in that part of the country, you can make a choice that will last a long time.
